Educators Credit Union, Educators Investment Services, and Educators Vehicle Solutions recognize the importance of the obligation we have in protecting your personal information.



We collect non-public personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications and forms.
  • Information about your transactions with us, or our affiliates.
  • Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies.


The credit union will use personal information to provide products and services to you. This information will also be used to identify you when you contact the credit union. We may share the information we collect, as described above, with companies that may perform marketing services on our behalf, or with other financial institutions with whom we may have service agreements. Service providers have agreed in writing to keep all member information we provide confidential and are not allowed to share or sell this information. We only share information to the extent necessary to service your account or offer services to you. We may also disclose information about you under circumstances as permitted by law.


Our collection of personal information related to providing products and services to children under 13 is intended to follow the principles of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), a U.S. law designed to protect the online privacy of children under the age of 13.

We will obtain consent from a parent or legal guardian before asking for personal information, unless the request for information falls within an exception that would be permitted under COPPA.

We do not make personal information collected from children publicly available. We will not condition a child’s participation in any activity or service on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity or service.

Parents or legal guardians may contact us at (800)236-5898 or stop into any Educators Credit Union branch to review, update or delete any of their children’s personal information that we may have collected and to elect for us not to collect any additional personal information from their child.


The credit union will make every effort to ensure the accuracy of our records and the personal information you provide to us. If you have any questions regarding the accuracy of your personal information, please call the credit union. We will investigate your concerns and any inaccurate information will be promptly corrected. We require that you inform us of any changes in your personal information, such as a change of address.


All of our employees sign an oath of confidentiality. By doing so, they promise to protect your non-public personal information. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect your non-public personal information.


This policy pertains to any information you provide through our website. As you use our online products, we collect information about your visits, but not about you personally. We use this information to monitor the performance of our online products. We will, however, collect personal information if you complete online applications or conduct online transactions. You should be informed that there are links on our website to other websites where this privacy policy does not apply.

PRIVACY POLICY for the Mobile Card Service

1. Introduction. This Privacy Policy describes the types of “Personal Information” (information that is identifiable to a particular person) that is collected (directly or through service providers) in connection with the Mobile Card Services downloadable application (“App”) and related service (collectively the “Service”) offered by your financial institution (“we” or “us”). This Privacy Policy is intended to supplement the disclosures in any Privacy Policy that you may have already been presented by us in connection with online banking or other services.

2. Eligibility. The Service is offered only to individual residents of the United States excluding its territories, who can form legally binding contracts under applicable law. Without limiting the foregoing, the Service is not offered to minors. Other restrictions and eligibility requirements for the Service apply as described in the Terms of Use for the Service. We do not knowingly collect any Personal Information from or about individuals under 18 years of age. Please do not submit such information to us, and as a parent or legal guardian, please do not allow your children to submit personal information without your permission. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

3. What Types of Personal Information We May Collect. We may also collect Personal Information about you, which may include: Name, postal address, Zip Code, e-mail address, telephone number, primary account number, Card Expiry Date, card verification number for the payment cards that you are registering for the Service, Social Security Number, and other information that we can use to contact you, verify your identity, and manage risks, such as information maintained about you by identity verification services and consumer reporting agencies, including credit bureaus, and payment and other transaction information, and history for payments and other transactions in which you participate through the Service, and any Personal Information that you may enter into information blocks in the Application interface or on the Site.

The App periodically collects, transmits and uses geolocation information to enable features that prevent fraudulent card use and send alerts, but only if you expressly authorize collection of such information.  Geolocation information can be monitored on a continuous basis in the background only while the App is being used, or not at all, depending on your selection.  You can change your location permission at any time in the device settings.

How We May Collect Personal Information About You.

We may collect Personal Information about you from the following sources:

  1. Information that you input to the App or that the App collects automatically
  2. Your use of the App and the Service, and your interactions with customer care, including information you enter or speak, and information transmitted by your computer, cell phones and other devices you use to connect to the Site or Service and
  3. We may also collect Personal Information about you from others, such as Affiliates, or other companies (such as for fraud detection).
  4. Personal Information Choices. You have the ability to decide when your personal information is used. We will provide a notification seeking your consent to use information for purposes other than that of original collection. If you decline to submit personal information to any of our services, we may not be able to provide those services to you.
  5. Information Sharing. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  7. In compliance with this Privacy Policy, we provide such information to trusted businesses for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf.

Other everyday business purposes, such as to maintain your ability to access the Service, to send you information about the Service, to effect, administer and enforce transactions, to perform fraud screening, to prevent actual or potential fraud and unauthorized transactions, to verify your identity, to determine your credit history, to verify the information you provide to the Service, to perform collections, to report to credit bureaus (including furnishing delinquent account information), to comply with laws, regulations, court orders and lawful instructions from government agencies, to protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public, to prevent and defend claims, to resolve disputes, to troubleshoot problems, to enforce our Terms of Use, to protect our rights and property, and to customize, measure, and improve the Service and the App, including pattern recognition, modeling, enhancement and improvement, system analysis, and Service performance analysis;
  3. For marketing purposes – to offer products and services to you, although you may opt-out of receiving commercial email marketing messages from us by following the opt-out processes described in those messages.
  4. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets that results in a change of the majority ownership of the App or the Service or the entity that owns them, you will be notified of this via email and/or a prominent notice on the App, as well as any material change in uses of your Personal Information, as well as any choices you may have regarding Personal Information about you.

Other Important Information.

Vermont: Under Vermont law, we will not share information we collect about Vermont residents with companies outside of our Affiliates, unless the law allows. We will not share information about your creditworthiness with our Affiliates except with your consent, but we may share information about our transactions or experiences with you with our Affiliates without your consent.

California: Under California law, we will not share information we collect about you with Nonaffiliates, unless the law allows. For example, we may share information with your consent, to service your accounts, or to provide rewards or benefits you are entitled to. We will limit sharing among our Affiliates to the extent required by California law.

9. Definitions.

  1. Affiliates: Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial or nonfinancial companies.
  2. Nonaffiliates: Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial or nonfinancial companies.
  3. Joint Marketing: A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

How We Protect Personal Information About You.

To protect Personal Information about you from unauthorized access and use, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards, including but not limited to security measures that comply with applicable federal and state laws. We also require our service providers and business partners to whom we disclose the information to do the same. When you enter sensitive information (such as a debit or credit card number) into the App, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

11. Data Retention. We will retain, protect, use and share Personal Information about you as long as it is reasonably required for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and as required by law, including but not limited to for risk management, regulatory compliance, and audit purposes.

12. Amendments. We may amend this policy at any time by posting a revised version in the App. The revised version will be effective immediately at the time it is posted unless a delayed effective date is expressly stated therein. You may (in our discretion) also be provided with an email notification of such amendments. If we make any change in how we use your Personal Information we will notify you by email or by means of a notice in the App prior to the change becoming effective. You may (in our discretion) be required to affirmatively acknowledge or accept the revised Privacy Policy in order to continue using the App and the Service. Any use of the App or the Service after a notice of change will constitute your express agreement to such changes.
