Why Use Educators Instead Of Peer-to-Peer Apps

As the world becomes increasingly digitized, people are beginning to flock to exclusively mobile banking offered by peer-to-peer money transfer apps. More than anyone else, Gen Z is the primary seeker of banking through their devices.

A peer-to-peer app as a primary financial is incredibly convenient at first glance. Millions of people use them to quickly send money between friends and family members. Depositing their paycheck and storing their money there to skip the middleman makes sense at first. So, why reconsider?

Local Service & Community Focus

While Educators is available to help members online using technologies like Educators Connect Cam, TOMs and live chat services, you can always count on being able to speak to us in-person at a branch during business hours. We live and work in your community, and provide personal, local service that you won’t get from a national brand that only exists on the internet.

We’re also proud to be invested in you and Southeast Wisconsin, providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in free financial literacy, sponsorships to local nonprofits and organizations, and volunteering at events that uplift communities. Being a member of Educators Credit Union is about so much more than just putting your money in a bank account: it’s about being part of people-centered progress in your community.

Freedom For Teenagers

Unlike most peer-to-peer money transfer apps, Educators Credit Union offers a student account. This account type is specifically for minors in the age range of 13-17. Student accounts are fully controlled by the minor, with no spending limits or gatekeeping by parents. Set savings goals, track spending, send money to friends and family for free. You can have it all with an Educators student account.

Safety

Not all peer-to-peer money transfer apps insure the money you store there. In fact, some apps impose stipulations on whether your money is insured or not. Your money that is stored in savings and checking accounts at Educators is always insured by the NCUA.

We also have a robust team to assist you if you feel you have been victim of a scam. Whether you notice an unauthorized transaction or you’ve accidentally shared personal information with a scammer, we’re here to help. Please give us a call at 262.886.5900 if you notice any suspicious activity.

Member Loyalty

As a credit union that values our members above profits, we’re proud to give back every year on December 1 with our Member Loyalty reward. Year after year, we keep giving record-breaking amounts back to our members just for using their Educators accounts. In 2024, we gave an incredible $5.2 MILLION to our membership.

How do you qualify for Member Loyalty? All you need is a checking account and make withdrawals 5 times every month from your checking or savings accounts! Once you have qualified as a loyal member, your Member Loyalty reward will accrue throughout the year based on these actions: log in to Online and Mobile Banking, swipe your card, have a loan with us, and/or save money! See a full list of criteria on how to earn Member Loyalty here.
