Junteenth: A Celebration of Freedom

Educators Credit Union is passionate about supporting an inclusive and equal society. With that goal in mind, Educators is proud to join our community in celebrating Juneteenth on June 19.

Juneteenth is the celebration of slavery ending in America. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers reached Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War had ended and the slaves were now free. That is regarded as the last group in the country to hear the news of liberation.

Now, we celebrate Juneteenth in a number of ways. Some communities host parties and picnics, others use it as a time to remember and reflect, but no matter what, it’s a day to rejoice.

Educators Credit Union is proud to join the celebration! Follow our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all day to see how we’re bringing the celebration to our branches and what’s happening in our communities.
