Providing Financial Education to Our Communities
Every school year, Educators Credit Union gives thousands of area students essential lessons on money. Our staff works with schools to bring the financial literacy programs EVERFI and Banzai into their classroom. These sponsored programs follow school curriculum requirements and students show big jumps in their financial knowledge after going through the course.
We also provide real-world simulations that try to give students a look at how they’ll manage their money as an adult. Our most popular hands-on activity is Reality Check Day, where students at school districts across southeastern Wisconsin get a quick lesson on being adults. They pick a job based on their interest, are randomly assigned children or a spouse, get a salary, a credit score, and more. They then use that information to budget for a full month, paying for rent or mortgages, groceries, childcare and more.
