Educators Credit Union wins the Governor’s Financial Literacy Award

We’re thrilled to announce that Educators Credit Union has been honored with the 2017 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award.

The Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy announced the award recipients Friday afternoon. Educators won its award for its sponsorship of the digital financial learning tool EverFi. EverFi teaches middle and high school students about important financial topics like saving money, credit, saving for higher education and more.

EverFi is just one of the great tools Educators uses to help increase financial literacy in our communities. We also provide Banzai, another classroom learning tool, GreenPath financial counseling to members, Reality Check Days at area high schools, real-world job opportunities to high school students through our co-op program, and more.

Educators Credit Union was one of 18 individuals, businesses and organizations to receive the 2017 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award. They were selected from 29 nominations submitted for consideration.

“These individuals and organizations are to be commended for their dedication to helping citizens of all ages enhance their personal financial knowledge and skills,” Governor Walker said. “Financial literacy is about equipping people with the tools they need to be financially secure and achieve their goals.”

Criteria considered during the screening process included innovative implementation, demonstrated measurable results, collaboration with partners and whether the effort was focused on needs-based groups. The recipients will be honored at a ceremony at the Capitol later this year.
