Wisconsin’s Teachers of the Year were honored on August 3 at Miller Park during the finale of Educator Days with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Pamela Gresser from Rothschild Elementary School, Chris Gleason from Patrick Marsh Middle School, Sarah Breckley from Reedsburg Area High School and Barb VanDoorn from Lake Holcombe School all threw out pitches prior to the start of the Brewers game. What made their pitches unique was the fact that they each were throwing to athletes from the school they teach at. Gresser threw to Noah Stachovak, Gleason threw to Dashle Maughan, Breckley threw to Jacob Ely and VanDoorn threw to Hannah Lee.
Joining the teachers on the field was Wisconsin State Superintendent Tony Evers, who congratulated the teachers on their honor, and Kim Marggraf of the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation. While each pitch thrown might not have been a strike, each catcher did a great job hauling in their teacher’s pitch.
The first pitch on the field was made possible thanks to the work of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation and Educators Credit Union.
