Educators Credit Union is partnering with Arts@Large in Milwaukee. Arts@Large is a non-profit organization that builds the skills necessary for art educators to engage K-12 students in arts infused learning. Their mission is to ensure that every child receives an education that uses the arts to motivate them to high academic achievement. Arts@Large engages students in art programs with project-based and experiential learning. Students are encouraged to take what they are learning within the classroom and output that through creative outlets like: film, photography, fine arts, dance and poetry. Arts@Large supports thousands of K-12 students throughout more than 40 Milwaukee public schools.
This year, Educators has pledged to financially support Arts@Large through the Café@Large program and the historic building renovation. Arts@Large is purchasing and restoring a three-story building located in Milwaukee, to provide a permanent home for the program. This building will be for educators, students and the community as a place to grow in the arts. The first floor is where the Café@Large area will be, enabling students to be trained in financial literacy through entrepreneurship. This café will also be a place for students to be mentored by and make connections with professionals from the business world. Educators will also be providing the financial literacy component to the program and weekly classes will be held at the center starting this month.
Educators Credit Union is very excited to see Arts@Large expand and integrate new students in to the arts. For more information on Arts@Large, head over to http://www.artsatlargeinc.org/.
