It’s scholarship time!
Writing is not always the most fun thing to do, sometimes it can even get overwhelming. We compiled some general tips for you to keep your scholarship essay writing simple (and hopefully enjoyable).
- Know your audience: Be sure to read the questions on the application and do some research on the group giving the scholarship.
- Plan in advance: Plan your essay, don’t just wing it. Know what information you want to include and maybe even write an outline. Also, go back and read the instructions for the essay to make sure that your essay meets the requirements before you turn it in.
- Make it personal: Let the people who are going to read your essay know who you are. It helps the group making the decision know that you are the type of student they want to award the scholarship.
- Find an editor: Ask a parent, teacher or even a friend who’s a grammar nerd to look it over and correct spelling and grammar mistakes. Even great essays can be tossed out because of spelling errors.
